About Ladakh
Nestled in the northernmost region of India, Ladakh is one of the country’s most spectacular mountain destinations, renowned for its breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, crystal-clear lakes, ancient monasteries, and thrilling high-altitude mountain passes. As a domestic destination, Indian travellers can explore Ladakh without a passport or visa, making it one of India’s most sought-after adventure and leisure holiday destinations.
The quickest way to reach Ladakh is by flight to Leh, with direct flights available from major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, and Srinagar (seasonal availability may vary). A direct flight from Delhi to Leh takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, offering stunning aerial views of the snow-covered Himalayas before landing at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh.
Situated at an altitude of around 3,500 metres (11,500 ft) above sea level, Leh requires visitors to spend their first few hours acclimatizing to the high altitude. The best time to visit Ladakh is from May to September, when the roads are open and the weather is ideal for sightseeing and road trips.
From the iconic Pangong Lake and Nubra Valley to the legendary Khardung La Pass, ancient Buddhist monasteries, and picturesque Himalayan villages, Ladakh offers an unforgettable blend of natural beauty, culture, spirituality, and adventure—making it a perfect destination for families, couples, solo travellers, photographers, and adventure enthusiasts alike.
