Arrive in Jaipur and transfer to your hotel.
Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is popularly known as the “Pink City”, owing to the extensive use of pink sandstone in the construction of the old walled city. Jaipur was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the great warrior-astronomer who also planned the city according to the principles of the ancient Hindu architectural text, Shilpa Shastra.
The city is uniquely designed around nine rectangular sectors, symbolising the nine divisions of the Universe. The architectural style beautifully combines Hindu, Mughal and Jain influences. Jaipur was painted pink in 1853 to honour the visit of Prince Albert.
In the afternoon, enjoy some free time to explore the colourful and lively bazaars of the city at your own pace or indulge in shopping.
